6-27-25 THOUGHTS
Sometimes reminders and familiar things bring comfort and peace. Sometimes we need both.
The whole world claims the 23rd Psalm. We must be able to own it truly. The LORD MUST BE MY SHEPHERD if the rest is mine. We read the remainder in awe. We ought to be "in the process of experiencing" what we read. These are gift-words from God, not internet words. They describe the life of the child of God! I pause at verse 4, and rejoice when I get to verse 6!
Ps 23:1-6 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
A Prayer:
Father God, thank You for the words of this psalm. Thank You for being our Lord and Shepherd. Help us to submit to Your will in every way, that we may enjoy the blessings contained in the ideas presented in these words. May we embrace Your rod and staff with joy, that we can partake of the “promised comfort.” Keep our minds and hearts dwelling on the long-term things of eternity. Your habitation is with Christ Your Son... we wish to join You soon, and forever. In the name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.
